State Death Record Accessibility
Death certificates are confidential records for 25 years from the date of death; only certain individuals may obtain a death record during this time. Those persons include: the mother or father of the person named on certificate, husband or wife of person named on certificate, son or daughter of person named on certificate, grandchildren of person named on certificate, sister or brother of person named on certificate, legal representative of family or estate, or informant listed on death certificate as providing information. After this time has passed, death records may be obtained by anyone upon payment of the fee.
