There were 10,312 deaths that occurred from 2006-2008 in Alaska. 210 deaths were from infectious and parasitic disease, 2,474 deaths were from malignant neoplasms, 48 deaths were from benign neoplasms, 306 deaths were from diabetes mellitus, 64 deaths were from Parkinson’s Disease, 217 deaths were from Alzheimer’s Disease, 2,506 deaths were from major cardiovascular diseases, 146 deaths were from influenza and pneumonia, 494 deaths were from chronic lower respiratory disease, 173 deaths were from chronic liver disease & cirrhosis, and 999 deaths were from unintentional injuries.

Only a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of the deceased person may obtain a certified copy of the death certificate during the 50-year wait period before it becomes matter of public record.
