There were 31,132 deaths in 2009 for Colorado. There were 25,809 white deaths, 1,139 black deaths, 3,479 Hispanic deaths, 259 American Indian/Native Alaskan deaths, and 1,139 Asian deaths. There were 8,253 deaths from cardiovascular disease, 6,938 deaths from malignant neoplasms, 2,072 deaths from chronic lower respiratory disease, 2,141 deaths were due to unintentional injuries, 655 deaths were due to pneumonia and influenza, 940 deaths were due to suicide, 778 deaths were due to diabetes mellitus, 61 deaths were due to HIV infection and 552 deaths were due to chronic liver disease and cirrhosis.
