State Genealogy Records Accessibility
Birth Records: Birth records have a 100-year wait period unless you are the person on the birth record, the parents/legal guardian, a legal representative, or a person who provides documentation showing the birth certificate is needed for the determination of property rights.
Death Records: Only a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of the deceased person may obtain a certified copy of the death certificate during the 50-year wait period before they become matter of public record.
Marriage Records: There is a 50-year wait period after the marriage record has been created, unless you are the bride or groom.
Divorce Records: Only the husband, wife, or legal representatives may obtain a certified copy of a divorce certificate.
