Arkansas Genealogy Records
State Genealogy Records Accessibility
Birth Records: Birth records in Arkansas can be accessed by the person on the record, certain close family members, or an attorney representing the family or person during the first 100 years; after 100 years have passed since the child’s birth, it is open to the public.
Death Records: Death records can be released only to specific persons who are related to the registrant, his/her designated representatives, academic research groups, and to persons who can demonstrate that they have a right to obtain the record. Death records that are more than 50 years old are deemed public record.
Marriage Records: If you are looking to obtain a copy of a marriage license, you will need to be the husband, wife, one of their attorneys, or a certain family member; otherwise, the record will not be released to you, as marriage records are never public domain.
Divorce Records: Only the husband or wife may obtain a certified copy of a divorce certificate. Legal counselors can also obtain a divorce record if they are representing the husband or wife. Academic research groups and persons who can demonstrate a right to the record can also request a divorce record.
